iGuard Network
Appliance
Solution - Access Control:
Smart Card Only - order
the LM520-SC for each door you need
to secure. You can use Smart
Card or PIN to open the door.

Fingerprint and Smart Card
- Order ONE LM520-FSC-SP as the
primary master and then order one
LM520-FSC for each door you wish to
secure with Fingerprint and
smartcard or fingerprint and PIN.
You can also use the LM520-SC Smart
Card Only terminal intermittently
with this solution instead of the
LM520-FSC's. Yes, you can mix
and match.
Other Components Needed -
- If the iGuard solution is
for an exterior door or a door
that is not in a secure area,
you will need the IG-ER-01
Secure Strike Relay for each
door you want to protect.
This eliminates the possibility
that someone can forcibly remove
the iGuard from the door and
cross two wires to "pop" the
door.
- You will need a door strike
or magnetic lock for each door.
We do sell the Securetron SD994c
and SD995c door strikes as
options for a self-install,
although we ALWAYS recommend
that you have a LOCAL CERTIFIED
"low voltage electrician" do the
install.
- Power and wiring - You will
need a 12v power source (plug in
or transformer panel) at each
door location. The iGuard
requires 1.2A at 12v peak and
the connector is 2.5mm CENTER
POSITIVE POLARITY. Each of
these products can be purchased
from our website for a
self-install, although we ALWAYS
recommend that you have a LOCAL
CERTIFIED "low voltage
electrician" do the install.
Additionally you will require a
CAT5 network drop at each door
to communicate with your
network.
- Optional Devices - You can
plug the iGuard into a wireless
Ethernet bridge to communicate
over 802.11 wireless networks.
- Optional Super Master - Each
iGuard network is capable of
supporting up to 1000 users in
native mode. Should you go
above 1000 we offer the iGuard
Super Master which is a device
that sits in your IT Closet and
collects all of the data from
the iGuards on your network
while controlling access
privileges to each iGuard on the
network.
- Grounding - Each iGuard must
be properly grounded to avoid
ESD. This is a requirement
for warranty validation.
- Other Items - Please check
with your local QUALIFIED LOW
VOLTAGE ELECTRICIAN AND
LOCKSMITH for local fire codes
and other ordinances that must
be taken into consideration when
you are designing and
implementing an access control
solution.
- Quick Egress Option - we
recommend that if you are also
using your access control
solution for time/attendance
that you place a SMART CARD ONLY
iGuard on the inside of the door
to facilitate speedy egress.
Solution - Time and Attendance:
The basic iGuard solution is
similar to above however you do not
require the door strikes.

Solution - Integration:
Your iGuard solution
may be integrated directly with any
ODBC Compliant database including
Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL, SQL
Express and My SQL using the iServer
toolkit or API Developers Kit
provided FREE of charge with each
iGuard.
Polling of the
access logs from the iGuards will
happen "real time" when they are
connected and local caching of the
data will be uploaded to the master
iGuard and database when the
connection is restored after a
network outage. Each iGuard
can store up to 4000 transactions in
local memory.
If you are manually
downloading the access logs into
Excel or .CSV the access logs are
designed to overwrite on a FIFO
(First In First Out) basis.
When the 4001 record is written
locally it will erase the 0001
record and so on.
